Gergana Haralampieva

Gergana (Gea) Haralampieva was born on January 29, 1994 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria into a family of professional musicians. When she was nine months old, she moved to the Czech Republic, where her parents worked. Gergana began to play the violin when she was five and a half. Her first violin teacher was Mrs. Lenka Herzmanska of the music school in the town of Odry. Later, she continued her violin education with Mrs. Eva Samselyova in Ostrava.

Since then, Gergana started earning successes at international violin competitions for children. In 2003 she won first prize at “Talents for Europe,” Slovakia, and third prize at “Kocian” International Violin Competition, Czech Republic. At the age of 10 she won prizes at “Talents for Europe,” “Kocian,” and “Prague Junior Note.” In 2004 Gergana also played Fantasy and Appassionato by Henry Weuxtemps with Janatzek Philharmonic Orchestra (Ostrava, Czech Republic), Vivaldi’s Concerto in A-minor and Mozart’s Concerto in G-major with Chamber Orchestra “Archi di Slovakia” (Zhilina, Slovakia) and with “Anima” Chamber Orchestra (Varna, Bulgaria). She recorded for the Czech National Radio Quasi Ballata and Appassionato by Josef Suk. Gergana participated in numerous concerts in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, among them concerts in the famous Foerst Hall and Rudolphinium Hall in Prague.

In 2005 she moved with her family to Boston, where she continues her violin education in the Preparatory School of the New England Conservatory, studying with Farhoud Moshfegh. In 2006 Gergana won first prize at the New England String Ensemble’s Concerto Competition.
